Sigma Theta Tau International: Nu Rho Chapter
Research Grant Proposal

Application Guidelines: Deadline, April 1 of each year

General Guidelines and Information
1. Applicants must be current members of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), Nu Rho Chapter.
2. Applicants must have a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing and be approved to conduct the proposed study.
3. The purpose of these grants is to support research by qualified nurses and/or graduate nursing students who are engaged in a program of research to advance knowledge in the science of nursing.
4. Award amounts may range from up to $599. The award money is to be utilized to support direct costs of the research project. The funding period is for one year from the receipt of the award. If an extension is necessary, a letter requesting the amount of additional time required must be sent to the Chair/ Co-Chair of the Research Committee. Only requests for non-funded extensions will be considered.
5. Accountability regarding the recipient’s use of the award is primarily through direct communication between the recipient and the Nu Rho Research Committee Chair. In addition, presentation of research findings to the membership of Nu Rho and publication of research abstract in the Nu Rho Newsletter are strongly encouraged.
6. Institutional Review Board (IRB) (or agency or college) approval must be obtained.
7. Grant Proposal Committee: The application will be reviewed by a panel of three to include the Chair of the Research Committee plus two additional committee members appointed by the board of Nu Rho Chapter, STTI. To facilitate an anonymous review process, please submit one copy with the applicant’s name, curriculum vitae, and signed agreement and three copies omitting the applicant’s name, curriculum vitae, and signed agreement.



Grant Application Guidelines
1. Incomplete applications or applications not prepared according to the guidelines will not be reviewed.
2. The narrative portion of the application is not to exceed 6 single-spaced pages using 12-point Times New Roman, Arial, or Courier font with no less than ½ inch margins.
3. APA format is preferred. Use of a consistent format for in-text citations and references is required.

d. Brief overview of Literature (no more than 2 pages)
e. Methods: Design, sample and setting, instruments, procedure, data management and analysis.

5. Budget with budget justification—indicate overall funding requirements (personnel, supplies, equipment, other expenses).
6. Appendices
a. IRB approval or documentation of submission to IRB

AGREEMENT FORM
If granted the Nu Rho Chapter Research Award, I agree to:
- Assume responsibility for completing the project.
- Notify the chapter research committee if a delay occurs in the completion of the project.
- Submit a 1 - 2 page abstract of the completed project for the files and for inclusion in the chapter newsletter and on the chapter Website.
- If requested, present a brief paper on the study to the membership at the chapter’s Annual Business Meeting or at the chapter invitation to another member event.
- Acknowledge Nu Rho Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International support in all presentations and publications.
- Retain active membership in Nu Rho Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International throughout the conduct of the research project.
